Who Is Langat Benjamin?

Langat Benjamin Kipkirui is a seasoned Kenyan politician currently serving as the Member of Parliament for Ainamoi Constituency in Kericho County. A dedicated public servant with a strong background in finance and leadership, Langat previously held the prestigious position of Kenya’s High Commissioner to Namibia, where he played a vital role in strengthening diplomatic relations between the two nations.

Born and raised in Ainamoi—formerly part of Kericho District—Langat’s political journey began after personal loss. He entered politics after his brother died and was the sitting MP for Ainamoi at the time.

Langat served the people of Ainamoi from 2008 to 2017 and was recognized for his public service and policy development. He took a break from elective politics and came back strong in the 2022 General Elections and won the parliamentary seat under UDA party.

Langat’s education started at Kericho High School where he did his O’Level. He then proceeded to University of Nairobi for his Bachelor’s degree in Commerce.

A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) by profession, he is a member of Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK. He is currently pursuing his PhD in Finance at University of Nairobi.

Langat Benjamin Career Before politics, Langat worked in the corporate sector. He was a Senior Accountant at Chai Trading Company Limited, a subsidiary of Kenya Tea Development Agency (KTDA) and Internal Auditor at Consolidated Bank of Kenya Ltd where he gained experience in financial systems and risk management.

In 2008 Langat entered public service and was elected MP for Ainamoi and served for two terms until 2017. He was recognized nationally when President Uhuru Kenyatta awarded him the Chief of the Order of the Burning Spear (CBS) in 2015.

As High Commissioner to Namibia, he promoted economic, political and cultural ties between Kenya and Namibia. He opened doors for trade, investment and collaborative development projects between the two countries.

Langat came back to elective politics in 2022 and was again elected by the people of Ainamoi to the 13th Parliament of Kenya.
